2022 Ram 1500 (DT) vs 2022 Ram 1500 (DS)

In 2019, Ram introduced the Ram DT as the new Ram 1500 with a new body style. Rather than discontinuing the old Ram, the Ram DS is now called the Ram Classic, and it has the iconic old body style. 2022 Ram 1500 (DT) vs 2022 Ram 1500 (DS) Overview

A new look and bolder design separate the DT from the DS. The Ram 1500 DT has a higher profile with higher mounted lights and badging as well as lower air intake making for a more rugged design. Other differences show up in the number of cab configurations as the Ram 1500 Classic (DS) has three cab configurations while the Ram 1500 (DT) has two cab configurations.

DT vs DS: Performance & Towing Capacity

Both pickups are incredibly capable and offer the same two gas engines, but the Ram 1500 (DT) also has a diesel option. The Ram 1500 (DT) also has more towing and payload capabilities. It can tow up to 12,750 pounds compared to a maximum towing rating of 10,660 pounds with the Ram 1500 Classic (DS). As for payloads, the Ram 1500 (DT) can carry up to 2,302 pounds compared to 1,923 pounds on the Ram 1500 Classic (DS).
